I wish I could put this place in a box and send it to all my overstressed friends and family. This is farm-life like I remember it. First – the open sky – at night – you feel you can touch the stars. Dreams are always in reach. And tomorrow everything will be all-right. Yes – a stand up – puff up that tail feathers and be proud to be a small town … person (the word “girl” is LONG past it’s sell by date).

Die Kuierhuis – where should I begin,… the food – oh my the FOOD ! – if you love dainty taste morsels – move on… and let the people who knows how to enjoy a PLATE of DELICIOUS food, show you how to do it.

The chicken laying its eggs on the stoep chairs is always a conversation starter. As if the chicken wanted to say – “Ubunto-people! – I layed the egg, now you sit on it till it hatches”.

The ducks that attend the wedding ceremonies in a small intimate sandstone chapel. Oh, and the little lambs – ponies – donkeys - … I have to mention the Honey-moon-suite, relaxed, with its own private swimming hole (it was a old grain silo). Ai, as soon as I have other means to show you more – I will. I love it that it is not commercial lodge, I love it that the host always have time for us, I am proud to say – the owners of Die Kuierhuis, is not just some one who’s name appears on the letterheads, but the ones who greet you by the gate, and keep this jewel as it should be – a nostalgic farm stay.
